Bali bag

These last days I have been sewing  a new project and today I want to share it with you.
My Bali bag

I did this bag in a class that I took lately, I am charmed with the  final result.
To do this bag, we need a sewing machine, approximately 3 to 4 meters of fabric and a clothesline.
The fabric will be cut  in strips of 2.5" of width, I cut approximately 45 strips. Another option is to use the jelly rolls.  The fabric strip is wrapped around the clothesline and then stitched with a running stitch

then, all these clothelines wrapped by fabric are sewed together.

I think that it will be easily to look at a video to understand the steps,To see the videos click here and here.

More photos of my  bali bag
This one is the interior of the bag
If you are interested in doing a bali bag This site has several patterns with ideas to use the jelly rolls.

Also if you google bali bags and jelly rolls you will find more information.

You can leave comments, I love receiving them !!!

ROD journal and a mixed-media creation

After so much time I have several projects to share with you. One of the aims of this year was create my first ROD  journal and I am working on it, but I want to share with you some photos of what I have realized up to this moment.
In Mary Ann Moss's course we learn to use all the pieces of fabric that are leftovers from other projects and we use  several types of papers like envelopes, pages of magazines and everything that we can recycle.
This is my journal cover, the front and the back.

These are some pages that are in preparation, I decided to start decorating the pages before sewing the signatures.
And now a mixed-media creation....

With the group of Roses on my Table I was working on a creation of mixed-media . This project  is called Bella Donna and I was charmed with realizing it. I could use different materials as text of books, pages of music, collage papers, cheese cloth, bee's wax and adirondak ink.
This was another project that I adored to create.
Here are my finish mixed-media creation.

Make-Do Vintage Heart.

We're in the month of may, wow these months passed so quickly. It's time to make an update of my creations.
With Roses on my table group we have created in February a Make-Do Vintage Heart. Nobody can imagine how I enjoyed working on this project. When I began creating this piece, I told to myself that it would be a nice opportunity to give some texture to the surface.

I began by choosing the material,I did a sort of competition between the fabrics that I choose.
Then I decided to play around with combinations of lace and trims, then I put some buttons to see the look that could give to my fabric.

When I liked the result I set the different components of my fabric and I started to sew .
The base is a wooden leg that I bought at Home Depot, is a leg that is originally for a table. I wanted to give an old look and decided to paint it and transform it, this is the end result .... now it is in my room and I use it to hang my necklaces on it
And finally my finish make-do heart creation

My goals for 2011

Well, the year 2011 has started and this will be my first post.
This year I have some goals, I am in my learning stage and there are many things I want to try. With the group Roses on my table, I am learning so many techniques and I will continue throughout the year to make each class with Cristina Zinnia.
I also want to continue learning different techniques on my Photoshop Elements software, to achieve this goal I will continue the workshops with Cindy Powell. This year we have already started working on a technique in which we learned how to turn a photo into a painting; the name of the workshop was A Digital Watercolor Painting Workshop. In February another workshop for beginners starts if you want more information that is the link. This new workshop is about collage and I have a feeling it will be fantastic.
I subscribed to Remain of the Days and I have the goal of making my first journal this year, I started to watch the videos and I love the way that Mary Ann Moss explains the technique, that is another of the achievements on my list of Challenge to do.

I forgot to tell you that I am following in THE SMASHEE's with Shelagh Folgate where I learn different techniques, I think we will be working primarily with textiles, the workshop began in December 2010 and I still could not create anything but I'm putting together all the materials for this first challenge. There are many techniques in this first lesson. I will begin using transfer paints, I just received my order from Deka transfer paints and I really want to try it. My other goals are to test other techniques such as making image transfers to different media.
Well I think they are a few goals right?

Now I want to share with you my first creation this year, the Mixed Media Bottles, I love how they look. That is another technique that I did with the group Roses on my Table, the blue bottle was a bottle of Disaronno.

Hi I want to share with you one of my latest creations, I think I told you I belong to several Yahoo- groups, in embellishments-galore yahoo group there was a digitizing challenge.
Genene our mom group asked us to create rectangles of any type of fabric and any color she only asked us to respect certain measurements.
And I want to share with you my creation.
I added some beads to give more sparkle and I really like how it looks
To create the ornament I used the 4D digitizing software, I created a design to do applique rectangles, my choice for fabrics was organza fabrics and Angelina fibers. I chose these fabrics because I like how they shine. If you want information about Angelina I recommend visiting Embellishment Village they have videos and techniques. But I bought my Angelina at Embellishment Galore.
Here are my pictures I hope you will enjoy.

I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !!!!

My Treasure Box

Hi I want to share with you another creation that I made in the group Roses On My Table, ahhhh what could I do without Cristina Zinnia, our instructor  and all the  members of that group that are  outstanding!
With her video tutorials she taught us to make a treasure box from a wooden box, she showed us aging
techniques and also how to create relief on the wooden box and gave us ideas to decorate the interior of the box and create mini folios that in my case it will serve to put photos. As always, her videos are easy to follow and you will have many many hours of pleasure to do the project.

I put some pictures to share with you, enjoy and leave me a comment if you want.
